The 3D layouts are nicely done, they should be a big help - they really show how some things have to be done that weren't shown before. Good job.

we all were surprised by the power, officialy "1W". it is very loud when overdrived (much more than a single watt) this amp suits more for saturated tone, it breaks up very nicely and is very sensitive to the attacs. there is tons of compression when clean at a "high volume" so ...

G1

Okay, I was looking at the G1 and saw I have most of the parts here, including all the iron. My experiment with subminiature (6021) tubes didn't work out so well. I'd like to try the G1. But of course I can't tell from the French description how well developed the project is. How close are you to a ...

Okay, here is a cut, but with the following warnings: playing is rough, singing is rough, recording is rough, the cut is shortened because the singer got confused EVEN THOUGH WE"VE PLAYED THIS SONG A HUNDRED TIMES but you get an idea of the tone I look for, not particularly much treble, with a ...

Yes, ok, though I doubt if it many people here will like the style. It's definitely not rock and roll. I'll put a link up when I get the audio ripped.

Took my G5 out in public last weekend

My little swing band ("Atomic Frog") played a private party this weekend. For the first time I left the Fender at home and took the G5. It performed well, better than I did. I liked the tone, my pianist liked the tone, and I got tone-compliments from a couple of party guests. When I listen...

I'm using a C12Q and it's fine once it's broken in. I play pretty clean, though, if you are into distortion I couldn't really comment. I would like to try a Weber but in Europe I can only find the Celestion-style Webers which don't really interest me. For my upcoming build (a 5e3) I will be using ei...

Cathode bypass works wonders. I removed the effects loop (never used it anyway) and put a switch in one of the holes. Put the ecc83 back in ... perfect. And my cold solder joint is gone. Now I have to fill the other hole, maybe a master?

thx again

yes, i thought the ecc81 was a good compromise. I will try the 5751 from my Fender next time I am in the band practice room. And I will still put a switch on the bypass cap of v1a

thanks for all the input.

I'm not really detecting any serious power amp distortion, except what may have been due to the driver stage overdriving the grid. With an ecc82, it stays clean all the way up. Oh, and mine is based on the V1 schematic (with the addition of the very important electrolytic on the screen of the EL34),...

I'm a big fan of the 5751, I use it in V1 of my Fender, it brought the amp to life. I've been meaning to buy more anyway.

It was clear about the bypass cap. I'm just looking for a way to do it without drilling a new hole in the chassis. I'm looking for a push-pull pot. My first impressions about the ecc82, in addition to the vol/bass/gain reduction, is that "something important" is missing in the sound. I don...

The ECC82 will be a good solution, i think too. And a switch to bypass the cathode capacitor of V1a, the 22µF one. The result will be less gain for sure, but less bass too. Well, you were right about the ecc82 - distortion down, volume way down, bass down. Next I'll try the switch on the bypass cap...
