Projet G5

Hi. I didn't connect here for some time and now I can't find the section were all the G1 materials were... (schematics, layouts, etc)
I'd like to build one soon.

I was also thinking that it would be great to build a G1 with 2 x ECC99 as power section (like the "EF-Bomb" or the "Dragonfly") since it gives a very rich sound as a result.

I'll be posting in french whenever I have my friend helping with it... meanwhile be aware that I can understand french, just can't write it correctly.

I made a G1 few months (weeks) ago, it is the version with Fender tonestack schema modified by Crane is here (I just changed the capa: 22nFd instead of 470nFd)
There's no official layout for the G1 like it is for the G5, you have to look in the different posts to do yours... in my post you'll find pictures of my own layout it can help you Didi's G1

the forum has been migrated recently to a new host. Still work in progress. The static section with all the material and resources isn't ready yet for publishing but the boss is working on this (that's what he says )

I can't find any G1 build that tried with two ECC99 for power section or any discussion, I think it would be very interesting.
Do you know if someone here tried?
The EF-Bomb is a great example, but there is also one version of the Dragonfly using a second ECC99 too, although not sure if in the same configuration...
I think it would make a very nice Super-G1 : ) really close to a big amp because of a more rich and complex sound.

We're always keen to see someone coming up with new ideas or new desgins.

Searching ECC99 on this forums returns 5 pages of hits. Have you had a look at them ?

one year ago I was reading everything here, now I'm starting again, slowly

but my skills with tubes are minuscule, I can't adapt the two ecc99 power stage to G1 myself...

or maybe you are being ironical?

Thank you! that's the same link I posted above; it looks like using 12AX7 for pre, not EF86, but the power section is what I mean... :)
Also, in the same thread, Crane suggests to use two ECC99 :)

I think if someone with skills see the EF-Bomb schematic will be able to adapt the power section to the G1v3 without problems.
Then the G1's power supply will have to be adapted, I guess, since we are using 2 x ECC99...
The EF-Bomb uses one EF86, then one 12BH7 and another 12BH7 as a dephaseur into the 2 x ECC99s :

I'd say (I'm an ignorant) in the EF-Bomb the ECC99 grids are in series and in Croquignol 2 x 12AU7 design grids are in parallel.

But the G1 is so refined and nice that I'd like to use only the power section from the EF-Bomb, or just add in the same way the second ECC99 to the G1v3 for a more rich sound and a bit more power and headroom.

I'm sure the G1 PI will drive well a quad of ECC99. In fact I'm not sure overdriving the quad of ECC99 will give a good powertube overdrive sound, so a cathodyne dephaser like the G1 is perfect.
Just take the TT50 power tranny for the extra heater current and plate voltage, and adapt the power supply (take a look at the EF86 bomb schem)

but all the grids are in parallel, it's just a different way of drawing ! There is only one pin for the grid !
